Turnstone House opened in October 2012 and accommodates ten boys and girls. It has dual registration as a residential special school and as a children’s home.
Therapeutic Setting
Turnstone House is in a peaceful and relaxing rural location within 20 minutes of the facilities of Norwich, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. The nearer small market towns of Loddon, Bungay and Beccles and easy access to the Norfolk and Suffolk coastlines and countryside give many options for responding to children’s needs.
Turnstone House provides a high quality group living experience within a warm and welcoming domestic setting. The property is big enough to enable a feeling of a large family and community whilst being domestic in feel. The home consists of a reception hall, two large and comfortably furnished living rooms, a garden room, kitchen and dining room where all members of the house come together for mealtimes. The rear of the house looks out across a large area of parkland leading to open farmland.
On the first floor there are six bedrooms, with two further bedrooms on the second floor, all with their own en-suite facilities. Externally there is a substantial stable block, which has been refurbished and converted into a three bedroom annex with flexibility in its use.
Large landscaped gardens and woodlands surround the property. The premises are fitted out to a high standard in respect of fixtures, fittings and equipment. In the parkland at the rear of the property is a purpose built, eco-friendly, single story Learning Centre with views out over the grounds and lake.
